As summer quickly faded to fall, it felt like it was time for another weekend road trip to Olympia. You might recall last October when we drove the Thurston Bountiful Byway. This year, we spent more time in Olympia proper and even got to tour what the city is most well-known for: the Washington State Capitol buildings. Scroll down for our itinerary, along with photos and videos of our weekend trip!
When Martin and I first met, we had an idea for a travel-themed restaurant. In our minds, it would be a place that both inspired and satisfied wanderlust through decor, atmosphere, and good food and drink. It turns out that such a place already exists at Bar Vacilando.
When it comes to weekend escapes from Seattle, the Hood Canal is one of the best destinations. Just a couple hours west of Seattle, this is where many of the region’s shellfish come from. It’s also where the Olympic National Forest begins. Thus, it’s the perfect place for both the mountain and ocean dweller as you can get the best of both worlds. Tucked away in the Hood Canal is Alderbrook Resort, which offers all of the elements of the complete Northwest experience.
